Happy New Year everyone!

The kids and I have just been hanging out and having fun, and they are actually getting along and loving each other, so things have been really nice. Buffy got a deck of cards for Christmas and it turns out that is her very very best present in the whole entire world, EVER. She won't go anywhere without her precious cards and when I took them away from her when she was annoying me in the car with them she started whimpering "But Mom, you have to shuffle them at least twice every hour... please give them back... my poor cards!!"

Oh give me a break.

Spike is sound asleep in his room right now, at 8am, because he got to spend the night at LaserQuest with his boyscout troop, playing laser tag all night long. He got home at 6am. I told him I'd wake him up at noon because we're going to see "Big Fish" with Scott. I hope the happiness continues and he doesn't turn into a big crankypuss.

I'm not going to do a New Years recap because, as Anenigma says, that's what the "Previous" button is for. And I do enough recaps with the Diary Anniversary, Birthdays, House Burned Down Anniversary... you know, it's just an endless recap.

Besides, my recap of 2003 basically comes down to this: Scott love love Scott love Scott love love love Scott Scott love kids-turning-into-teenagers love Scott Scott car-problems love Scott. And who wants to read THAT all over?

So instead I found this little New Year Quiz and I'll just real quickly do that.

1. What did you do in 2003 that you'd never done before?
Ate salmon and tofu, tried kung fu and tai chi, spent an entire year being happy.

2. Did you keep your New Year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I did my best. I did keep my kids first in my life - though that wasn't always easy. I did not keep my bills in the best order but probably did the best I could with the money I had. I did however end the year with the bills paid and *that*, to me, was success.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Corina had a beautiful baby girl in August. OHH, and Charleen had her son way back on January 2!

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No!

5. What countries did you visit?
Give me a break, I haven't left the Bay Area.

6. What would you like to have in 2004 that you lacked in 2003?
A little bit more money.

7. What date(s) from 2003 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
I can't think of any, but considering the date from 2002 that I remember is October 24 - the day my house burned down, ya know, sometimes it's not that bad to have a stand out date.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I finished the year with all my bills paid, and if you think that's not an achievement then you don't know me very well.

9. What was your biggest failure?
My health and fitness went to pot when I got too busy with Scott and it's going to take a bunch more work again this year.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
NO illness, NO injury. It was a good year!

11. What was the best thing you bought?
I would say the Jeep if it wasn't sitting at the mechanic shop needing a new transmission. Otherwise I don't think we bought much this year. Well, I did buy the convertible on January 1 and that's still running and I really loved it all year, so that's probably the best thing.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
I'd say MINE. I was a good girl all year long, and even my officemate was very very proud of me.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
My Supervisor can be an insane woman, way beyond your usual stupid boss behavior. Also, Spike's has not been the best as he turns into a teen, but overall he's still much more good than bad.

14. Where did most of your money go?
All my money went into bills and paying off the 401K loan from the fire, then the Jeep loan which I have a long way to go.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Mommy Camp and being able to have Christmas dinner with Scott.

16. What song will always remind you of 2003?
Probably the Norah Jones CD because every time I hear her sing it reminds me of driving to Scott's house in the rainy winter months.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Happier
ii. thinner or fatter? fatter
iii. richer or poorer? Poorer.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Working out, duh. Heh.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Sitting on my butt in front of the computer.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
With the kids and Scott and family.

22. Did you fall in love in 2003?
Oh yeah, over and over again.

23. How many one-night stands?
None.

24. What was your favorite TV program?
Survivor, always Survivor.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No, I don't have much hate in me today.

26. What was the best book you read?
The Red Tent. Read it. Now.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Hmmmm... I really loved Norah Jones. And I re-discovered Sheryl Crowe and Dave Matthews Band.

28. What did you want and get?
A running watch. Wait, are we talking about Christmas or the whole year? Because I wanted Happiness and I got that too.

29. What did you want and not get?
A freakin car that will drive me around without smoking or making me worry that it's going to break any second.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Kill Bill

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Sighhh... 37 years old. And I don't remember my birthday very well... was that the day I was so pissed at the kids for doing nothing for me? Yeah, I think that was the day.

32.What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Having more money OR getting engaged... but I am really happy just being with Scott, don't take my non-stop marriage talk as some great desire to be married. I just know I want to spend the rest of my life with him so I don't see a reason to wait for this... but I *am* spending my life with him so it's not like I'm missing out. Seriously, the only thing that would have made my life *immeasurably* more satisfying is winning the lottery. I was just pretty darn happy this year.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2003?
The usual: Put on a pair of running pants and a comfortable shirt, some sandals, WaLah! Fashion Done!

34. What kept you sane?
Okay, Scott definitely kept me sane this year. He's the missing link to my sanity.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Colin Farrel

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
The war.

37. Who did you miss?
I didn't miss anyone. And I found my old elementary school friend M, so that was great too.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
Scott's roommates. Very awesome people. And his friends who had the house warming party. Everyone connected to Scott is an amazing person.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2003.
Looking out for yourself is not a bad thing. You have to put your own self and needs first sometimes.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
"You've already won me over, inspite of me, so don't be alarmed if I fall head over feet."
Alanis baby, she Rules.

Oh yeah, my New Year Resolutions:
Pay my bills on time and don't bounce ANY checks.
Work out for 1/2 hour at least 4 days a week.
No TV between 6pm and 8pm.
Keep my house in order and all feng shui'd out. I LOVE feng shui.

That's it Guys, now bring on 2004 and let's see what it's got!
